About Jim Harris
My philosophy of art is simple: I paint what inspires me; if someone else is moved by it, that's great! I derive great joy from selling my original paintings to people who truly love them!
JIm Harris, Artist is my home studio from which I produce my original art. I have a degree in art (oils, watercolor) from James Madison University, but my life took a different track, and for 43 years I have been an ordained pastor in the United Methodist Church. In 2004 I retired from full-time ministry, but I still serve in a part-time ministry setting.
My work is often influenced by the beautiful scenery that exists all around me in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, where I chose to live. I no longer exhibit in galleries here and on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I do commissioned work, but for the most part I create paintings and other art to be donated to Christian charities and other worthwhile organizations for fund-raising. When a person purchases one of my original creations they become the owner of an orginal, unique piece of art that no one else in the world owns.
